SN65LBC180: SN65LBC180 replacing SN75LBC180

Part Number: SN65LBC180
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75LBC180,

Hi team,
My customer is trying to migrate from SN75LBC180 to SN65LBC180.
They have different VOD range in different temperature range as follows:

  1. SN75LBC180: |VOD| 1.5V-5V under 0 to +70C
  2. SN65LBC180: |VOD| 1.1V-5V under -40 to +85C

What is the |VOD| range of SN65LBC180 under 0 to +70C?
Should the minimum |VOD| be 1.5V like SN75LBC180 by limiting temperature range?
My customer would like to check if SN65 can easily replace SN75 from VOD perspective.

Best regards,
Kazuki Itoh

  • Hi Kazuki-san,

The behavior of these two devices should be very similar when within overlapping temperature ranges, so I would expect that the SN65LBC180 would show 1.5V Vod within the 0 - 70C range. However, because this is not specified in the datasheet explicitly it is not something we can guarantee as we can with the SN75LBC180.

Today is a holiday in the US, so please give our RS-485 expert until Monday to respond with further input here.

  • Hi Eric-san,

    Thank you for the reply.

Do you have any additional input from RS-485 expert?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Kazuki-san,

Sorry, our RS-485 expert is still out of office. We will provide further comments once he is available again this week.

It should be the same (or close to it). The ATE (automated test equipment) that screens the two parts are slightly different but if you limit the temperature for the part I would expect very close VoD results.
