TUSB212: The packet parameter test is failed when TUSB212 RWB is inserted.

Part Number: TUSB212

Tool/software:

Hello guys,

One of my customers is doing USB2.0 compliance test using TUSB212RWB with the following connection.

CPU board <-- cable -->   Relay board (TUSB212RWB) <-- cable --> DUT

When the TUSB212RWB relay board is inserted, the Packet Parameter Test is failed, but when the TUSB212RWB relay board is removed, the test passes.
(But eye pattern is improved when TUSB212RWB relay board is inserted.)

At this moment, the customer has the following questions.
Could you please give me your reply?

Q1.
What is possibility cause of the Packet Parameter Test failure?
Also what is the counter measure to pass the test with TUSB212RWB?

Q2.
They think AC Boost can be adjusted to four levels and Level 0 does not apply AC Boost. Is their understanding correct?

Q3.
If there are four AC Boost levels, could you tell me how much gain for each level?

Q4.
4) Should they set AC boost in what cases and how to select the level?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya-san,

What is possibility cause of the Packet Parameter Test failure?
Also what is the counter measure to pass the test with TUSB212RWB?

Do you have any eye diagrams of the signal with and without the redriver? Which test is failing in these tests? The best recommendation I would have is to adjust different EQ levels to see if there are any varying results.

Additionally, you could also test pulling the redriver into RSTN and seeing if the test is passed after going through the board or not.

    Q2.
They think AC Boost can be adjusted to four levels and Level 0 does not apply AC Boost. Is their understanding correct?

AC Boost level 0 does not mean no boost. It just means that it is a very small amount of boost.

    Q3.
If there are four AC Boost levels, could you tell me how much gain for each level?

    Q4.
    4) Should they set AC boost in what cases and how to select the level?

The level of AC Boost should be set in relation to the current margins in their eye diagrams. If there is little to no margin, the level of AC and DC Boost should be increased until the margins are within the desired measurements.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I asked the customer to send me the eye pattern of test pass and failure case.
I will send you it as soon as I get it.  Could you please check it in that case?

But they don't want to disclose their eye pattern on E2E.
So could you please tell me your e-mail address? I will send it to your e-mail.

Thank you again and best regards,
    Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya-san,

If possible, let's use the private message system on E2E. I sent you a friend request, when you accept that, it should let you send me a private message which only I can see. You can send that data through there, and then I can give you my feedback.

If that does not work, then I can give you my email to send it over.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thank you very much for your friend request.

I accepted the request. But I the customer has not sent their eye pattern data yet.
I will send you as soon as I get it.

Thank you again and best regards,
    Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya-san,

Okay, sounds good. I will be waiting for any update.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
