AM26LV32E: failsafe output logic

Part Number: AM26LV32E

Tool/software:

Hi team,
This is a failsafe question.

If the input signal is open, the failsafe causes the output to be HIGH, but I would like this output to be LOW.
I would like to operate with the specifications of this IC except when it is open.
There is only one input connection device.
This content is a request for a special behavior by the customer.

Q1. Is it possible to put a pull-up on the N terminal and a pull-down on the P terminal for input?
Q2. Is there a failsafe  IC that goes LOW when the input is open?

Regards,
Ken

  • 1. Yes, you can add external fail-safe resistors. Please note that the AM26LV32E's internal fail-safe does not work when a termination resistor is present, so you need them anyway.

    2. No

  • Hi Ken,

The AM26LV32E doesn't have an internal fail safe feature (Vth+ needs to be below GND for any receiver to support internal fail safe).

Q1. Is it possible to put a pull-up on the N terminal and a pull-down on the P terminal for input?

Yes, You can set up an external fail safe by putting the pull up resistor on the inverting node (B) and the non inverting node (A) has a pull down resistor to GND.

Q2. Is there a failsafe  IC that goes LOW when the input is open?

As Clemen's stated, no we don't have a device that automatically outputs a low during opens.
