TUSB320LAI: How to set up the TUSB320LAI?

Part Number: TUSB320LAI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB320,

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

TUSB320 can work with 3V3 VDD input.

Now we want to support 5V/3A output. Regarding the datasheet, we increased the VDD to 5V. But now it doesn't work.

Please help check what's going on. The boot sequence is as follows.

  • I2C communication is normal.

I set the current advertisement to HIGH, the port mode to DRP_MODE, the port mode prefer to DRP_TRY_SRK, and the UFP accessory to UFP_DISABLE.

But the CC pin output is not PWM.

  • Hi Pakho,

    1. How are you enabling the type-C VBUS? Typically this is done with a VBUS switch that is controlled by the TUSB320LAI ID pin. I see in your design that ID is No-connect. Make sure that the VBUS is only enabled after the CC negotiation is complete or it can cause issues.

    2. Can you show the CC1/2 and VBUS waveforms at the point of attachment?

we increased the VDD to 5V. But now it doesn't work.

Is the TUSB320 not able to establish a connection at all? Or is the issue that the CC pins PWM is not what you expect for TRY.SRC?

    Best,

    Shane
