ISO1042: Is ISO1042 'hot-plug capable' ?

Part Number: ISO1042

Hello,

We need an isolated CAN transceiver which also features 'hot-plug'. But I cannot find one within the isolated CAN transceiver category.

After some research into the existing the product which marked as 'hot-plug capable' such as TCAN-1642 , I realize that hot -plug capable CAN transceiver has the following features:

  • power up/down glitch free operation on bus and RXD output
  • Ideal passive, high impedance bus terminals when unpowered

1. Can I say that any TI CAN transceiver with above two features equivalent to 'hot-plug capable' ?

2. I found in the datasheet of ISO1042 also has the above two features. Does that mean ISO 1042 is 'hot-plug capable'?

Thanks

  • Hi Qingxuan,

Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in TI CAN transceivers.

    1. Can I say that any TI CAN transceiver with above two features equivalent to 'hot-plug capable' ?

Yes, glitch-free operation during power-up and power-down for CAN transceivers means the device is hot-plug capable. Hence, you can use ISO1042 for your application.

    2. I found in the datasheet of ISO1042 also has the above two features. Does that mean ISO 1042 is 'hot-plug capable'?

    Yes, as confirmed above. Thanks.
