In high channel count designs, how do I reduce the number of digital connections to the MCU?

  • In order to reduce the number of digital connections to the MCU, a MUX and a decoder can be used with isolated digital input receivers, such as the ISO121x device. Please refer to this TI Design where you can find a 96-Channel Bidirectional Digital Input Module Reference Design schematic.
