LM3S6965: Lost Post - "Crystal" vs "Crystal Oscillator"

Part Number: LM3S6965

Many people are confused by the difference between a "Crystal" and a "Crystal Oscillator".

There was an illustrated post here explaining the difference (I think I wrote it):

Is there any way to retrieve that post?

(I've tried the Wayback machine - no luck).

I've also tried searching here, but the terms are too common.

When I click the above link, it shows the below thread. I don't think this link which you provided above has anything to do with crystal vs crystal oscillator.

Yes, I know - but that's entirely the wrong thread. That's the problem!

Somehow, the forum is redirecting the old link incorrectly to that thread.

There doesn't seem to be any "Stellaris ARM" section in the forum any more - is there an archive of that available somewhere?

No, that's not it.

That thread actually refers to the same link in it - which, again, goes incorrectly to the one in interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum.

The fact that we now have two separate instances of that link I think confirms that it's not just a typo: it was the correct link at the time, but some forum reorganisation/restructuring/pruning has broken it.

The question is: where has the original content gone?
