TMS320F28384D-Q1: Pinmux settings

Part Number: TMS320F28384D-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi Team,

We have received this inquiry from our customer.

We have a custom circuit board that uses the TI part# F28388DZWTS. We have another application (product) that we want to use the same circuit board. However, the F28388DZWTS is not available through distribution at this time. We have located a similar part (same family) whose part number is F28384DZWTQR. I have some specific questions about the compatibility of that part.

.I am hoping to get an expedited answer on the capability of the F28384DZWTQR in a PCBA designed for the F28388DZWTS and have some specific questions prior to purchasing a large number of them

I also need some clarity on the "Q" in the part#

What I have found so far is that the F28384DZWTQR does NOT have EtherCat and does NOT have the configurable logic blocks. Everything else seems to be the same between it and the F28388.
Also, When I look at the sys config tool, it seems to indicate that the pinmux choices are identical between the two implying that it is pin for pin (configurably) identical.
So, F28384DZWTQR is a full production TI qualified part# that is automotive qualified and pin for pin compatible with the F28388DZWTS. It does not have Ethercat and does not have configurable logic blocks.
We are not using ethercat so that is good. But the pinmux tool allows multiple choices for various emac signals. Some of these pinmux settings would be in conflict with using ethercat, but as we didn't it was not an issue. So my concern about pin compatibility is that (given the 28384 does not have ethercat), the same pinmux settings are still available.
Regards,
Danilo
