TMS320F2812: Cannot open a project in Code Composer Studio 2.21 - Most options are grayed out

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Hello,

I am currently using version 2.21 and the majority of the the options within the tool are grayed out. Any suggestions? The options were available previously. Not sure why they aren't any longer. Thanks.

  • Matt,

What has changed? Is this new installation of CCS or you are trying on new computer?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Santosh

  • This is a fairly new installation. The tool was working until recently and was able to connect to the hardware and open projects. However, the options are now grayed out. The user reported getting an error message related to low power to the emulator. That error appeared a couple of times but, the options were not grayed out at that point. Afterwards, the tool was idle for roughly 30 minutes and appears to have closed unexpectedly. When launched again, the issue appeared.

  • Matt,

Can you please list the tool chains being used:

    - CCS 2.21 ?? This is very old, I am not sure if it is supported anymore.

Windows Version? Is  this Windows 10 or older??

    Thanks & Regards,

    Santosh

  • The machine is Windows XP. Is there any reason those options would get grayed-out? Is there a setting or something that needs to be cleared? Also, when the board is connected, there are some additional buttons/options that are available but, not the options I need such as opening a project.

  • Matt,

The setup is very old and we do not have setup to reproduce the issue. I am contacting CCS team if they can help. Please expect response in a day.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Santosh

  • Hi Santosh,

Good Day. Another query from the customer, please see below for your reference. Thank you very much.

When I initially installed the tool and the flash component, it appears that the result was some duplicate folders. For instance, there is a folder named C:ti\Myprojects (or something similar) and also another one at a different location. I think in a folder called C:ti_2_2\Myprojects.

The output files from the project are being placed in the C:ti\Myprojects location. Is there a potential issue with that?

I don't believe it is interfering with the other version of CCS. Just curious if I need to merge the two locations into one or somehow specify which one to use as the default.

Just wanted to mention it in case it is somehow related to the new issue with the projects being grayed out and also if I need to correct it.

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Unfortunately, the CCS team is out today.  They will see your post on Monday.

As already stated, CCS 2.21 is no longer supported.  We will try to help out.  But be prepared for the possibility that we may get stuck.

It may be helpful if you tell us the precise version of both CCS and Windows XP.  I can't tell you exactly how to find that.  In CCS, look for a menu selection similar to Help | About.  In Windows, it will be a menu selection similar to Start | Settings | System | About.

    Thanks and regards,

    -George

I suspect the project manager dll got unregistered somehow. Please see the below post for suggestions on how to re-register it:

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/tools/code-composer-studio-group/ccs/f/code-composer-studio-forum/993554/project-window-disabled-in-code-composer-3-3/3669858#3669858

The above mentions CCSv3 but it should work the same way for CCSv2

    Thanks
