Hi Team, Greetings!

We are trying to evaluate the BLDC Motor as Generator using custom designed Hardware (3-Phase Inverter as rectifier) with TMS320F280049C DSP.

We have gone through the below tickets and Understood that the FOC Algorithm will supports in Generator mode also.

So, we are trying to use "Instaspin FOC" labs code to run the module as 3-phase active rectifier.
The default installation path is: .....ti\c2000\C2000Ware_MotorControl_SDK_4_00_00_00\solutions\tmdshvmtrinspin\f28004x.

Please give your valuble support & clarify the below doubts,
1. If we choose correct path (....\solutions\tmdshvmtrinspin\f28004x), then in which lab we can proceed (Lab1/2/3/4....lab12)?

2. In the above ticket, you all mentioned that "Iq_ref" should be in -ve? then what is the Iq_ref value?

3. Is "Iq_ref" setting sufficient to run the motor as generator? if yes, then PWM error will chnage accordingly right?

    Hi Chaithanya,

    To what end is the bigger question not ever being addressed in that forum posting. There were other forum posts claiming similar magic trick that defies most all physics lessons of kinetic to potential energy conversions. Energy in equals energy out, or even less depending on efficiency of the design. If all you want to do is allow SPM motor to produce sinewave rectified DC, force PWM A/B drives action qualifiers high impedance state.

    Protect SMP B+ from reverse current (series diode) and monitor Bus Voltage, ADC samples do not rise above a safe level. High side NFET body diodes nicely rectify motor acting generator sinewave into pulsed half wave DC.  With linear DC supply feeding DC inverter it is safer (less complicated) when reverse voltage is maintained below output electrolytic voltages, of the inverter too. It very often works out that way by design if generator rotor is spinning down velocity, not running at a constant speed.
