MSP430I2041: Question about Custome BSL

Hello,

I found MSP430i2041 does not have BSL so if want to use BSL, we sould write custom BSL.

How to detect app or Boot mode?

By UART RX data buffer?

Question2

If use UART BSL entry (Detect boot by UART communication from host PC), Is there limit time since device POR?

(Do you have data such as After ** second from POR, if there is no event, BSL detect "app mode" )

I understand about app mode executed condition.

How is boot mode?

What is external event? what is application event? I believe BSL executed first from MCU power up, so the software can not program by user. Is the application event mean interrupt event??

I believe BSL boot entry can by only UART.

I believe if MCU's program countor move to user application code, BSL can not control the MCU...

Or the BSL boot mode entry can detect during Application Validation, and if excused app mode once, it can not entry boot mode?

And

I believe the BSL's app mode mean do user application on own Flash, boot mode mean BSL entry used for such as updating Flash.

Is this correct?

No, if the application valid the device will running the application code, if the application is invalid it will stay in the BSL code. It not have OS to do task switch.

Which pin can they use for event (for force boot mode) with MSP430i2041?

Due to the BSL is open source, customer can use any GPIO to do this job.
