MSP430FR5739 application stopps

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430FR5739, MSP430FR5739

While developing my first MSP430 application with CCS6 I noticed that the clocks on the MCU disappeared after a while. So I took the "Blink The LED" example and modified the port and output pin used on by board. When I run the application the LED blinks for a while and then stopps. I stopped the execution time from power-on to end of blinking manually: 32s, 37s, 31s.

What could be the reason for this? Please help!

With kind regards
Helmut

  • Helmut,

it is quite unusual to have the Blink LED suddenly stops.  Have you checked your hardware? Did you measure the supply voltage when it stops? You can try to compare the hardware connection e.g. to MSP-EXP430FR5739 kit.

  • Hello Leo,

thank you for your quick reply.

Because I am only the software developer not the hardware guy, my possibilities are somehow restricted. But after blinking stopped the supply voltage still remains okay.

I forwarded your hint (MSP-EXP430FR5730 kit) to the hardware developer hoping he can find some differences that may be the reason for this unusual behaviour...

First I thought of thermal problems on heavy CPU load or automatic recognition of empty loops resulting in a LPM after some time. But I cannot really imagine this...

So if you have any further idea please tell me

Here is attached 15.5K P1.0 basic blinking example that is used for testing MSP430FR5739 with my SBW+ flasher. Try it. It should blink forever.

  • Hello Leo,

we checked our hardware again and found a bug in the reset circuit. After fixing that bug the LED blinked forever.

    Thank you.

  • Helmut,

glad to hear it works now. Enjoy working with MSP430 and good luck for your project.
