BQ24640: Question about charge current

Part Number: BQ24640

Hello,

My customer has some questions as follows.

Q1: 7.3.2 Output Current Regulation
Regarding the output current regulation, which is the set maximum charging current, peak current, valley current, or average current?

Q2: Charge current regulation accuracy
Datasheet specifies charge current regulation accuracy at VIREG_CHG = 40mV, 20mV, 5mV and 1.5mV. How about if VIREG_CHG > 40mV? The charge current regulation accuracy gets better? Could you show the data of “charge current regulation accuracy” for VIREG_CHG range = 50mV to 100mV?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hello Kazuhiko,

    Q1: 7.3.2 Output Current Regulation
Regarding the output current regulation, which is the set maximum charging current, peak current, valley current, or average current?

The Output current regulation sets the maximum current.

We don't have the date to provide an accurate answer.

    Best Regards,

    Christian.

  • Christian,

    Thank you for your responses.
Let me confirm a bit more.

    Q1:
The maximum current means peak current?

    Q2:
Even if TI does not have data to be share, with VIREG_CHG > 40mV, the charge current regulation accuracy could theoretically be higher?

    Best regards,

    K.Hirano

  • Hello Kazuhiko,

    Q1:
The maximum current means peak current?

    Yes

    Q2:
Even if TI does not have data to be share, with VIREG_CHG > 40mV, the charge current regulation accuracy could theoretically be higher?

Yes, theorectically it could be higher, but without the data I can't confirm.

    Best Regards,

    Christian
