BQ24616: 2-Cell system with built in NTCs, how to connect to TS input pin

Part Number: BQ24616

Tool/software:

Hello

I am currently designing a system using two batteries connected in series.
The batteries each have their own built in NTCs (See product sheet attached).
I am wondering if there are any proven solutions for letting the TS pin monitor both of them.

Some limitations:
1) The MCU is (ideally) off during charging, so it has to be a pure hardware solution.
2) A single external NTC is not possible, as the cells will not be stacked but side-by-side- due to height limitations for the product (so 2 external NTCs would be required anyway).
3) As I understand it, the NTCs are connected between the NTC pin and the GND, so there might be some additional issues with the "upper" battery's NTC as it will be connected not to ground but to the lower battery's positive terminal.

Kind regards,

Ódinn

No, We do not have any proven solution for having the battery charger TS pin monitor the temperature of multiple batteries. I recommend using two BQ24616 battery chargers if this is needed.
