bq76930 reset of OCD Counter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76930

Hi.

My customer Sigmatek has a melt fuse in addition to the BMS chip. They need better understand the behavior in over/short current circuit.

What will reset the internal counter for OCD

- ) If current goes below a threshold

-) after a certain time

-) ..?

thanks

  • Current is sensed from the filterd voltage to the SRP& SRN pins. The part (bq76930) will sample that voltage. If it sees the voltage above the threshold it starts timing. If a sample is below the threshold it clears or resets the counter.
A gauge or MCU will need do something similar with a firmware OCD. CC readings are available every 250 ms integrated over that time period. The MCU could reset on a low sample or do some filtering.
