LM334: Do the four V- terminals need to be shorted for this device?

Part Number: LM334

Hello,

On the datasheet for the LM334 adjustable source Figure 1 there are four V- ports. Should these all be shorted, or are they intended to be used as four different current sources?

Thank you,

Randall Irwin

  • Hi Randall,

I included the figure you are talking about for others viewing.

All of the V- terminals are the same net. I would recommend shorting them together underneath the IC so you can efficiently layout in one layer.

The purpose of this type of layout would permit a more efficient layout if you were to have multiple loads in different cardinal directions around the IC.

    Hopefully this helps!
