BQ76952EVM: bqstudio No free adapters are available for use on this system

Part Number: BQ76952EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400

I install bqstudio 1.3.97 on windows 10, connect PC USB to BQ76952EVM, no LED on. I follow the instruction to connect 48v. Press and release the WAKE switch, start bqstudio, "No free adapters are available for use on this system". Click scan button, GUI register display is not correct

  • Hi Gary,

The communication adapter part of the EVM is powered from the USB cable. It should work without the BAT+ connected or powered.  It sounds like the board is not getting power from the cable.  Check for a lose connection at one end of the USB cable.

Check the VBUS test point on the EVM with respect to a GND test point, it should be 5V from the PC.  Check the 3.3V test point also, it should be a regulated 3.3V.  If the voltages are missing check the USB cable or the PC USB port.

Check in the windows 10 Device Manager under Human Interface Devices.  The adapter should show as a HID-compliant vendor-defined device.  If you disconnect and connect you should see it go away and come back.

If you suspect the board has lost its program, you can reprogram the adapter with the EV2400 Firmware Updater v0.28 (Rev. A) available from the EV2400 tool folder.

Also be sure there is not another copy of the BQStudio running, it will hide the adapter so that a new copy can't find it.
