Analog Switch for Audio application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3A44159, TS3A227E, TS12A4517, TS5A22362, TS12A4516, TS12A12511, TS5A22364, TS5A22366

Hello community,

I'm a little bit confused about the datasheets (e.g. TS3A44159) for your analog switches.

Most of them are defined with:

"Analog voltage range -0.5V ... V+ + 0.5 V"

So I've got an Audio Signal, which is sinusoidal wave +-1.5V.

And also in the application notes there are examples with Audio sources.

Are These switches able to switch such audio signals?

Thanks in advance

Michael

  • Michael,

The TS3A44159 is not capable of passing an audio signal because as you mentioned the "Analog voltage range -0.5V ... V+ + 0.5 V" does not support a negative swing. We do have several general purpose switches that can support signals with negative swing like your Audio Signal sinusoidal wave +-1.5V. These devices include the TS12A4516, TS12A4517, TS12A12511, TS5A22362, TS5A22364, and TS5A22366. We also have audio jack switches with our newest one being the TS3A227E.
