CC3135MOD: About Scan number, roaming, WMM-PS(U-ASPD)

Part Number: CC3135MOD

Hi experts,

Please let me confirm the supported features of the CC3135MOD.

[Q1]
SWRU455M states that CC3135MOD scans up to 30, does this mean that the user can only get up to 30 results?
When scanning during soft roaming, are there more than 30 APs scanned internally and the strongest APs are connected to the strongest ones?
If more than 30, what is the maximum number of scans?

[Q2]
Does CC3x35 support WMM-PS (U-APSD)?
Or, if there are any other wireless modules other than the Wilink series that are supported, we would like to know about them.

[Reference Information]
SimpleLink Wi-Fi® CC3x20, CC3x3x Network Processor (Rev. M)
CC3135MOD: Software Roaming
CC3220S: WMM test report
Does CC3200 support WMM/QOS?

Best regards,
O.H

Yes 30 is the max, scan results include only up to 30 entries.

I do not think we support this feature, but you can double-check here.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Jacob,

    Thank you for your reply.

    [Q1]

Yes 30 is the max, scan results include only up to 30 entries.

When the customer was connected in an environment with more than 30 APs visible, the scan result of "sl_WlanConnect" was retrieved with "sl_WlanGetNetworkList" and the number of APs retrieved was 30. However, the AP with the SSID specified by "sl_WlanConnect" was not in the list, but the connection itself was made to the AP with the specified SSID.

Q3:This leads me to believe that more than 30 APs are being scanned internally, is this correct?

Q4:Also, is the same specification used for Roaming Scan? If different, could you please tell us how they differ?

I do not think we support this feature, but you can double-check here.

    I understood.

    Best regards,
    O.H

  • Hi Jacob,

Sorry for rush you. Is there any update for Q3, Q4? If you have difficulty answering the part about this topic, or if you can answer offline, please let us know which one.

    Best regards,
    O.H

  • Hi O.H.,

Q3:This leads me to believe that more than 30 APs are being scanned internally, is this correct?

Yes, you are right. Internally, we scan more than 30 AP's and decide which ones to display based on a filter.

Q4:Also, is the same specification used for Roaming Scan? If different, could you please tell us how they differ?

Roaming scan is based on the results from the previous scan. It searches the channels with the most AP's and provides <=30 results.

    Thanks,
    Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

Thank you for your reply. I understood.

Yes, you are right. Internally, we scan more than 30 AP's and decide which ones to display based on a filter.

Q5:By the way, is there a maximum number of APs that will be scanned internally?

    Best regards,
    O.H

  • Hi O.H.,

Q5:By the way, is there a maximum number of APs that will be scanned internally?

I do not think that there is a max number of APs that are scanned internally. Only 30 APs that meet the scanning conditions are saved in the scan results. Any additional APs that are scanned are not saved into device memory.

    Thanks,
    Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

Sorry for the delay in replying. I understood. If the customer has any additional questions, please allow me to contact you again.

    Thank you for your support.
