Questions on CC2430-CC2591-EM reference design

Hello,

I have several questions regarding the CC2430-CC2591-EM reference design given by swra214:

1) What EDA software should I use to open the *.pcb, *.rep, and *.spl files included in the refence design?

2) What are the width, length, and thickness of the three TLIN INDUCTORs connected to CC2590/91 AVDD_PA1, AVDD_PA2, AVDD_LNA pins?

3) What are the resistance values of R81 and R21? they are not given in the BOM.

4) R1 and R111 are both 0 ohms, can they be replaced with wires?

Your kind help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I hope the following bits of guidance will help!

1) For our reference designs we usually always Gerber and Cadstar files. The files you listed (eg .spl) are Gerbers. You should be able to open them in any Gerber viewer or editor. (eg one from here http://www.pentalogix.com/Download/download.html)

2) You should be able to get this from the reference design once you open the files

3) These should just be for tuning and you likely do not need to mount these.

4) I suppose it is up to you, but I would always recommend just following the reference design.

What are the target inductance values for the 3 TLIN inductors for the CC2591 power supply filters?

Actually I am not sure if this has been measured and I must say that the CC2591 is design sensitive and so can only recommend following the reference design.

I found an answer for the CC2591 TILN values, from the forum post here: e2e.ti.com/.../1581311 Hope that helps anyone else who comes across this thread in the future. They say that the online calculators will not work for this. If anyone knows what calculator we would need to use to get these values, please let me know. Thanks.

Note that for new designs I would recommend using the CC2592 (not the CC2591), it has better performance and is easier to design with.
