Hello,

I am using AFE5809 for sonar application. I will give input from T/R switch and external clock input from J15 port of AFE5809 board. and LVDS connected to FPGA.

I might have to eliminate unwanted blocks from APFE5809. Can I please get schematic file and PCB files? Also, If you guys can comment on things that I should keep in mind for this design, I really appreciate it.

Thanks for using the AFE5809 device and AFE5809EVM.

The schematic file is stored inside the AFE5809 user's guide.

Its location is linked at: www.ti.com/.../afe5809evm

Also it shows you for the board layout plots as well.

The original EVM board design is majorly used for ultrasound device application.

For sonar application, please modify some capacitor value as you need below:

Please refer to the data sheet (page 23 and page 62):

These two can show you how to make you input signal flat from 100kHz.

Hello,

I want to configure AFE5809 chip into TGC mode. and Also I want the Demod & LP Filter to enable. Can you please tell me how can I do that?

Does it have any onboard memory which can save my configuration? So I can run in the same configuration after the full reset and without connecting USB cable.

Hi Vatsal,

Thanks for using our AFE5809 device.

After the power supply was turned off (including USB plug), everything (registers and configurations) will be reset.

Please read our AFE5809 user's guide:

Hello, One more question. I checked AFE5809 Sonar Receiver Reference Design (TIDU702) and schematic diagram for that design(http://www.ti.com/lit/df/tidrjg1/tidrjg1.pdf).

From that schematic diagrams, I didn't see any Mixer used. but If I want to use Digital I/Q Demodulation Do I have to provide any clock other than ADC_Clock? If no, How it can Demodulate I/Q ?

Vatsal,

The digital demodulator is internal to the device and is after the ADC in the signal chain. The LO frequency is programmed by a register value and is proportional to the ADC frequency. The LO frequency is f= N*Fs/65536. For instance, an N value of 8192 and an Fs =40MSPS, would mean a mixer frequency of 5MHz. The TX_Trig signal can be used to align the phase of the internal LO with the input signal.
