Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM49370, LM49350

we are working on a Project where we need to select a Speaker Amplifier.

We need some quick technical support here,

Issue: My SoC -ARTIK530S has I2S and BT/PCM interface, which need to be connected to Speaker Amplifier, we need to use 2x8 W Speaker Amplifier accordingly.

But almost all Speaker Amplifier in this range has only I2S Interface and No BT-PCM Interface. We have a requirement of playing Music from Bluetooth device also and For that we are facing issue. Normally in most of the SoC, the BT-PCM interface is internally connected to I2S and from SoC only one I2S interface comes out which is connected to Speaker Amplifier or Audio codec. In our Case, BT-PCM and I2S lines are coming out and either we need to put some bridge IC or some Amplifier which will support both the i2S and BT-PCM interface.

Could you please suggest some solution, we are in Schematics phase and need to close this on priority.

Can you guide some solution with this problem, either if we can switch/connect the BT PCM to I2S or some other solution. We will really appreciate you support.

  • Dharmender,

Mid Power Audio does not have such devices but another group might. Please allow me to consult my coworkers in that group and get back to you shortly.

  • Hello Dharmender,

Your PCM bus is Mono, correct?

We do have devices that will convert PCM to I2S.   The devices we have could interface with the I2S and PCM ports and provide an Analog output,  or it could act as a PCM to I2S bridge.  You could even use the internal muxes and use the I2S out of the I2S port to interface with the Amplifier. (see digital mixer diagram below)

you wouldn't be using the ADC or DAC functionality so you can ignore the lower portion of the mixer.

check out this link for an application note regarding the LM49370.   The same concepts in this guide would apply to the LM49350 (less expensive) as well.

It is unfortunate that the ARTIK530S does not allow for some kind of internal conversion between PCM and I2S.

    best regards,
