Hello,

I need to design a ECG telemetry system based on the chips mentioned above. I already have the M430FG4618+CC2500 EVM and I am about to purchase the ADS1298ECGFE-PDK to develop my system. Some of the next questions are merely related to the AFE and MCU  while others are about the RF section. I will appreciate if you can help me with 1,2 or any them.

1. The ADS1298ECGFE-PDK comes with the MMB0 for interfacing with the computer. I just want to make sure that the 1298 board is meant to work without the MMBO ( i.e. would be controlled by the MSP430) . Is it meant for that?

2. Assuming question 1's answer is yes, is there any code available for controlling the ADS1298 with the MSP430?

3. Where can I order the Cardiosim II. The only website I have seen it is this http://www.biometriccables.com/product/texasinstrumentmodulestip-n010510ti/ but I don't see any price and can't figure out how to order it.

4. Can you give me the part number of the ECG cable in figure 67 of the 1298 PDK user's guide? http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbau171a/sbau171a.pdf

5. After using the EVMs for developing my applications I want to design a board that includes the 1298, MSP430 and CC2500. Can you give me general advice on designing the power supply and RF circuit parts? For the RF parts, I want to know considerations to avoid RF noise coupled to the baseband section of the board.

6. Have you use the CC2500 with a printed antenna? Do you have a reference design for such antenna?

    Hi Efrain,

    Your project with the ADS1298 sounds very similar to the one that Rafal is doing here:

    Take a look at that post and let us know if it gives you an idea of where to start.  The MMB0 is not absolutely necessary to use with the ADS1298ECGFE-PDK; you can wire your own processor (MSP430) into the ADS1298 hardware.  Both the CardioSim and the cable are available through Biometric Cables, I believe the part number for the cable is their drawing number which is noted in Figure 67 of the ADS1298ECGFE-PDK Users Guide.  You'll need to send them an e-mail to place an order for the simulator and the cable.  As for the Radio part of this query, you might check with the MAVRK team or MSP430 team, I believe they have something ready to go for that.

    I am Master student and I am doing the same project , wireless ECG by using MSP430FG4618+CC2420 and MSP430F2274, actually I need to learn from your experince , could you please give me some information about it ? and about ECG board is it integreted or I need to design it ?     Due to a situation out of my control the project I was working on was suspended for about a year but now is back. I would like to know if you have any source code available for controlling the ADS1298 with the MSP430?
