need some help on THS1206EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS1206, THS1206M-EVM

hey i have got the evaluation board of THS1206 EVM . I need to provide an analog input signal of around 0.1 - 0.2 v range . Can anyone help me in how to make the connections for obtaining the ADC output using The evaluation board ?? Since iam quite new to this field  ,I would be happy if someone helped me out. If possible point out the pins in the board . ..

  • Hi Kiran,

Did you review the schematic in the THS1206M-EVM Users Guide?  The connectors are identified there along with their pin functions.  The THS1206 also has an input range of 2V, (from 1.5 to 3.5) so you'll need to level shift your input.

The Users Guide is located here: http://www.ti.com/lit/htm/slvu098

  • i had reviewed the schematics in THS1206EVM .I happened to read that there were 4 channel :AINP,AINM,BINP,BINM .. Now say that i have to give an analog input , how should i give it? I mean to say whether i need to apply voltage between AINP & AINM  or AINP and GND ?.

Also you had told that the range of input is 2v . Is it not possible to provide input directly without level shift ??

  • Thanks for replying.

  • Hi Kiran,

The THS1206 can be configured for two differential inputs or four single ended inputs.  If you decide to go differential, you would apply your input signal between AINP and AINM or between BINP and BINM.  If you desire to go single ended, then your inputs would be applied AINP to GND, AINM to GND, BINP to GND and BINM to GND.  The details on the analog input to the THS1206 are in the data sheet on page 3.  In the single ended configuration, your input has to be between Vrefm and Vrefp which is 1.5V and 3.5V respective so your 0.1-0.2V input would need to be level shifted.  In the differential configuration, it is customary to use a common mode voltage of 2.5V with this device.
