Beagleboard Xm with XDS100V2

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM3730, OMAP3530

Hello !

I bought an Beagleboard Xm and an XDS100V2 emulator.

Is it possible to get an "cfg" file for DM3730 and this emulator.

I'm using CCS V4.2.3.00004

Erich

  • Erich,

I am not quite sure what you mean by the "cfg" file for DM3730, but check the page below with some support files for CCSv4.

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/OMAP_and_Sitara_CCS_support

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hello,

I've already found this page, but there is no configuration file for XDS100V2.

Do I have do modify an existing configuration file for XDS560 or USB510.

It's a little bit difficult because I don't know the format of a configuration file.

    Thanks

    Erich

  • Erich,

If you are looking for a *.ccxml file for DM3730 using XDS100v2, I created one for you using the *.ccs file posted on that wiki as a reference. I've attached it here.

I didn't configure the A8 with a startup GEL file. You can do that yourself using the GEL file you have.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Whats the best folder structure to use for this file and the GEL file that I assuem are needed as well to make this work?

    David

  • David,

Blake forwarded a couple of your threads to us.  Once a thread is answered we are no longer watching it, we won't see any further replies on it.  It is best to start a new thread if you have a follow up question, especially if the thread is old (like this one that was 2 months old when you replied).

I have no idea if you still need the information but you can copy the ccxml file into your project if you have one (just right click on the project and select to add files).  If you are not using projects you can place the file in the shared target configuration folder which is in <your windows user directory>\user\CCSTargetConfigurations   Then in CCS if you open the target configurations view from View -> Target Configurations it will be listed under the User defined folder.

For DM3730 I would recommend updating to CCSv5.1.x and installing the additional DaVinci Device support files.  The device support files will make it so DM3730 shows up when creating a target configuration.  It also will show peripheral registers for the device when you are debugging the A8.

There is a GEL file for DM3730 here.

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/OMAP_and_Sitara_CCS_support#DM3730_and_DM3725

If you need a linker command file you can get one here:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Linker_CMD_Files_for_CCS

The product team for DM3730 is very focused on Linux and thus GEL files and other support files are hard to find for CCS as debugging via JTAG is not a typical use case.

Hopefully your future experiences with the forums are more positive.

    Regards,

    John

I too hope for more positive results, I would like to believe I do not need to rant and rave at the admin to get a reaction! Its not great for my blood pressure:)

I've passed this onto the lucky CCS user, he is on  5.1.0.09000, do we need to download the dm3730 files, I'm sure he still uses om3530 at the moment.

We have major issues with the MMC driver at the moment so have to debug with  pritnk's, it appears the dvsdk linux is broken with regard to MMC devices, we have followed advice from TI and used an eMMC device toshiba, it fails on the mount of the linux file system (first time read only check stage). My post to the forum have elicted no response and our lcoal support people seem unabel to come up with anything. We have now got an external 2GB MMC and this as the same issues when run on Beagle (om3530) card.

    More details here

All pointers welcome, at the moment my customer is seriously unhappy about progress as we cannot boot the board standalone, work from sd card attached to same mmc by hardwiring it in.

  • David,

If the user is on omap3530 then there is already a device file present in the 5.1.0.09000 installation.  If someone needs dm3730 then the extra package is needed.

Unfortunately I can't help with the Linux post, our expertise is very focused on CCS.

    Regards,

    John

  • Its a dm3730, where do we get the extra file from?

    David

  • David,

On the CCS download page: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS

In the CCSv5 download table there are links along the right for Device Support Files.  Grab the DaVinci (DMxxxx) package.

    Regards,

    John
