Hi
I'm using CCS v5.1 and cannot find a way to load a single .out file (not a project) to a F28x MCU.
Any advices are appreciated.
Thanks,
Jiakai

Hi Jiakai,
you wish to do a projectless debug session?
If so the steps are
1 - create a target configuration (ccxml) file. File->New Target configuration. Be sure to save it!
2 - go to View->Target configurations
3 - right click and "launch selected configuration"
4 - you should now be in debug mode
5 - Run->load->program
Best REgards,
Lisa
Thanks for this post. I was just looking it over to help me through this problem. My next point may go without saying, but make sure that you connect to the target in step 4 in order to have the Load Program drop-down go from being ghosted to being available.
Hi
I am working on Code composer studiov5.5 for TMS320C6416. I have written my code, build and debug it and it doesn't give me any error and code is also working fine. Now I want to port it to hardware.I follow the above steps and all steps go smoothly. Can anyone Kindly share any link or mentions steps here. to transfer the code to the dsp kit. Also guide me what should be the format of the file which is loaded into the kit.?
Thank you
Maheen
Lisa's procedure worked for me running CCS 5.1 for a F28335 board except I had step 4.5 before CCS would let me load a program:
4.5 - Run->Connect Target
Thanks for this. We've been trying to do this ever since we switched to CCS 5 and it's been driving us nuts.
Hello,
I do have the problem that I do not get the menu to load the out files.
Usually it should be possible to load a program by Run->load->program.
But I only get Run->load->verifyprogram.
Does anyone know what happend?

After compiling the code have you made configuration file? i.e .ccxml file.
then go to target >> debug active project
then target>> load program
then load the '.out' file generated during compilation.
then target>> run
I hope this will answer the question.
Thanks.
Hello
I found the cause of the problem. The CCS had a program crash. During working with another tool the CCS broke down. After that many of the environment settings got lost. So it took some time to find the lost settings and set them again.
Many thanks
Oliver
Hi,
great, very happy to hear and thanks for the update.
All the best with development.
Best Regards,
Lisa
We have found that sometimes when you have a project that stops working, you need to delete your workspace files and start a new workspace from scratch. Then everything magically starts working again.
Lisa,
I hope this post will help the next person that searches for what I needed. Very similar situation but I am starting with a full project. My concern was that when I start a Debug session, I would load more into the MSP430 than just the release code. (AKA all the Debug code.) So, I was able to execute 2 thru 4 above but Run > Load > Program was greyed out. My solution is:
4 - arrive in debug mode
4.5 - Run > Connect Target
5 - Run > Load > Program
At this point a dialog allows browsing to the *.out file that was generated from the release build. (I hope.) Software is running but I can't know for sure that there is no debug code embedded.
