Hello,

I installed CCS Version: 6.0.0.00190 on Linux platform. I had selected the Support for Wireless Connectivity MCUs while installation.

Infact, under Help->About->Installation Details I see support for CC2538 and CC26xx.

Now if under App Center I search for CC3200, I only find TI RTOS for CC3200.

I have also installed CCS under Windows, and when I perform the search for CC3200 in App Center for Windows CCS install, I get CC3200 Add-On too, in addition to the TI RTOS for 3200.

How to install CC3200 device support under CCS in Linux?

Hi Vishal,

I think there is some issue with the update no being visible/public. Can you try adding this new line after the last line of your <CCS INSTALL DIR>\ccsv6\eclipse\ccstudio.ini file?

-Dapps.json=http://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/non-esd/ccs_appcenter/apps_6.0.0.cc32xx.json

Dear Ki,

That did not solve my issue, in fact after adding that option, even the other apps do not appear in the list of available apps.

I checked the ccstudio.ini file in windows and compared it with the Linux installation. They are identical.

Sorry, I was mistaken. That link will not help you. Please remove it.

The issue is that CC3200 is not yet supported on Linux. The rough timeframe for it is the end of the year.

Thanks for the info on this. I too, have just run into this issue. Is there some way to get notified when Linux support for the CC3200 is added.

I've just received my CC3200 and noticed the whole missing support for Linux in CCS. How does this affect building applications on Linux and flashing? Is this possible?

Which parts of the tool chain (including flashing) are not supported?

This is quite frustrating - I just set up a VM for Linux on my Mac, only to find that CCS does not support the CC3200! Some mention in the documentation would be helpful (e.g., www.ti.com/.../getliterature.tsp;fileType=pdf and processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Linux_Host_Support_CCSv6 ). Any ETA on Mac and/or Linux support?

To be clear to others that may stumble on this thread, it appears you can still use gcc. My frustration is simply that I was hoping to use CCS.

Any update on that ? For some reason wiki claim that Linux CCS has support for CC3200 here. If this is not true than please edit this as it confuse Linux users.

Second thing is that CCS Download for 6.0.1.00039 notes give information "Support for SimpleLink CC32xx" if this is true only for Windows this also should be clarified.

I hope TI will care more about Linux users as IoT development engage a lot of them and CC3200 claims to be IoT solution.

Sorry for the confusion. CC3200 was originally going to be supported with external emulators but that support was removed. I've updated the wikis. Thanks for point out the errors.

Hello, Ki-Soo. Your response above sounds rather final. Is there still a goal on the part of TI to support the CC3200 under Linux? If so, what is the current time-frame?

Or has TI decided not to support the CC3200 under linux?

Hi Mark,
There has been no update on this as far as I know. The story is a bit complicated. There is no support for the onboard emulation (Stellaris ICDI) on the CC3200 LaunchPad. But there is some support for using an external emulator with CC3200 (though it is not exposed in CCS). The main issue is that the SDK is only supported on Windows. The best place to air your frustrations is the cc3200 forums and let your desire for Linux support be known: e2e.ti.com/.../968
