Problem launching controlSUITE - missing javaw.exe

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hello, i didn't see a controlSUITE Forum so thought i'd post in the CCS Forum as they are closely related (i already downloaded and installed the Free CCS 4.2.4 tools and they seem OK).

I just downloaded the Free controlSUITE utility.  It installed without any hitches -but- when i go to launch the application, i get the following message:

"A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run Eclipse.  No Java Virtual Machine was found after searching the following locations: c:\ti\controlSUITE\eclipse\jre\bin\javaw.exe or javaw.exe in your current PATH."

There IS an <eclipse> directory under controlSUITE -but- there is no <jre> subdirectory there and no javaw.exe file.  So why supply the eclipse directory if is incomplete and MISSING files needed to make the GUI work???  What is the easiest way to fix this issue?  I'm surprised there isn't already a thread for this.

Thanks! J

  • Hi J,

It is assumed that JRE is installed, which is not in your case and hence you got this error. You simply have to install JRE from JAVA website. Also, you don't require any such sub-folder in controlSuite folder.

  • Thanks!  That did the trick.  For any others who are having the same difficulty, goto the www . java . com website and download the Free Java code.  Then, execute the <jxpiinstall.exe> file.  The one caveat is that you need to be connected to the internet in order to launch the installer which needs to connect with Oracle to do the installation.

    Thanks! J

  • That's Great, J! (Please don't forget to close the thread by verifying the answer. That helps a lot to the forum members!)
