CCS License for EVM boards!

Hi!

I noticed this on the home page for the CCS:

Free: Use a full version of CCS which is limited to an XDS100 hardware emulator connection.

This for example is the case for OMAP L138 Experimenter. It uses XDS100 emulator.

The Spectrum Digital EVM OMAP L137 however uses XDS510 emulator .
Does that mean that only the Experimenter and EVM boards from "Logic" come with

free CCS and the board from Spectrum Digital has a 30 day trial limit?

Even when I use the CCS with the OMAP L138 Experimenter and CCS v4 is
properly licensed, the IDE is still counting down the days. Can somebody please clarify?

Hi,

I generated the free license and and tried ot use xds510 (on the EVM board) on my notebook with fresh installation of CCS v4. Although the IDE was showing licensed, the attempt to launch debugger came up with "you are not licensed for this operation". Then I also connected the EVM with XDS110 and I was able to launch the debugger with it. Disconnected XDS110 and again connected EVM with XDS510, and now I am able to debug XDS510 also, but the days are being counted down (sometimes)

I have noticed that occasionally, the IDE caption sometimes reads "(Licensed)" and occasionaly, the days are being counted down. I hope you can understand my confusion with all this. Furthermore, if XDS110 license is free, then I guess that the number of computers are not limited on which one can use XDS110. I can understand for XDS510 however that its use would be limited to EVM boards only (but currently looks limited also for EVM). I would expect that I could install CCS v4 on any number of computers, if each of them would be using EVM boards or XDS110 emulators. Or I completely dont understand here something??

Assuming we purchase a node locked license, can that license be moved to another computer? I feel weary, to buy a license, figure out that CCS does not work on that OS or that emulation is slow on that PC and then be left stranded.

This means CCS is still using the 30-day free license. Once you have the free limited license e-mailed to you, you need to activate CCS using that license.

Yes, but you need to first rehost your license from the [http://www.ti.com/activatesoftware registration page] and specify the MAC address for the new PC you will be using. You can only have 2 MAC addresses specified at one time.

Hi!

Notice the following screen:

I have already performed this step several times before. When I repeat it, the caption again reads (Licensed), without the number of days still to go. I don't know what triggers the CCS to again start counting days. The .lic file is what was sent by the email. During the process required to obtain the license, I have to specify MAC address for my PC. I have done that. How can we check if the license was properly accepted or not?

Is there maybe also some form of registration of XDS110 or XDS510 on the EVM required so that the license generated will cover both?
