File Search feature in CCSv4 - won't search header files

I'm trying to use the File Search feature (Navigate -> Search) in CCSv4 to look for something in a header file. I choose *.c and *.h for file extensions and the whole workspace as the scope. The search only returns results from *.c files. If I select *.h as the only file type, then the search returns nothing. How do I get the search to include header files?

Also, after I run a search and the Search results window opens I don't see how to start a new or refined search from that window. The only thing that has worked for me is going back to Navigate -> Search to get another dialog box to open to define the search parameters. Is there a way to start this from the search results window?

Tommy,

I think the issue not *.h files in general but for files in general, that are not directly part of the workspace. Basically it is not searching inside the include search paths. Just files inside the workspace folder or files linked to the project...

The header files I am attempting to search are part of the project and are in the workspace. For instance I have a file named myapplication.c and there is an associated header file myapplication.h that contains a lot of definitions. It is this type of .h file that I am attempting to search through. In this case should CCSv4 be able to find this header file and search through it?

That should definitely work. I just tried it out and it searched my *.h file for sure and showed it in the results. Your 'File Name Pattern' is the following I assume? *.c, *.h ?

I've tried both *.c, *.h and *.h alone. I have tried scope to workspace and working set pointing to project folder in workspace. Nothing gave results from .h file. My file structure is \workspace
          \project
               \source code
               \inc

Do you see anything here that explains why the search isn't working for me???

That looks ok. I mimiced your directory structure and it searched in the 'inc' folder.

Thanks. I got it.

I see what is going on. The 'inc' folder is one level up from where the project files are (.project, .cdtbuild, etc). That folder is doesn't show up in the C/C++ Projects view. If you put the 'inc' folder inside the folder where the project files are, it will search them. Outside that folder, it will not.

If I am doing a search over the entire Workspace, why wouldn't the \inc folder be found? I did basically the same thing with MS Studio C++ 6 Find in Files search and it didn't have any problems finding the header files. This seems like an unnecessary restriction on how customers structure their code.
