Can't Initialize Target CPU: Error 0x00000200/-1081

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC5416, TMS320LF2403A

Hello, I am having trouble getting CCS to initialize a target upon startup. I am getting the error shown below. The processor is a TMS320VC5416. I am running CCS 2.20.00.I am using a Spectrum Digital XDS510-USB emulator. I have successfully detected the JTAG device in the scan chain by doing an emulator test in SDConfig. Probing the board reveals that the processor is receiving power. Searching for PTI_ERR_CNTL_REVISION came up with no hits.Thanks.

  • Hello Roberta,

CCS 2.2x is quite a very old version of CCS. If you need to use that old version, I'd recommend at least upgrading it to the 2.21 (available at this link). Then install the 2.21.00 to 2.21.03 patch to make sure you have the latest 2.2x patch.

Once you have upgraded to 2.21.03, update your SD drivers to the latest version that supports 2.2 and try again:

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Sorry to refloat this thread but I am in a similar situation. I have inherited a legacy project to make modifications. A board with a TMS320LF2403A controller and  a XDS510usb tool. I have the original CDs of Code Composer Studio 2.20 and the Spectrum digital drivers.

I installed the CCS 2.20, but could not register the product online because ti site tells that the product is no longer supported. Anyway,  I tried to update CCS with the patch to 2.21 that you provided. This didn't work. The installation process stops and prompts the message attached here.

I could not continue with the steps you listed in your post, so some help would be really appreciated.

    regards.

    Alex.
