CCS 4.1 release now available!

CCS 4.1 release is now available:

Highlights

Support for Stellaris devices
Improved performance (most evident on multi-core devices)
Support for XDS100v2
Numerous fixes and enhancements

Improved performance includes:

Improved CCS start-up times (up to 50% improvement)
Speed and memory usage improvements when launching debug sessions for devices with many peripheral registers. This is especially evident on multi-core devices (up to 70% improvement)
Improved symbol lookup performance. This is primarily visible in situations where a large number of lookups are performed after a target halt
Improved memory footprint when loading large DWARF symbol files

Currently only a full CCS 4.1 installation image is available. A patch update for existing 4.0 users will be available in a few weeks.

Ki-Soo,

I have successfully downloaded the new zip-file for CCS4.1. Now I have a few questions:

1. Should I install CCS4.1 in parallel to CCS4.0.2, or is it neccessary to de-install CCS4.0 first?

2. I am using a node locked license for my full version of CCS4.02. Will the existing license file for CCS4.02 also be valid for the new version 4.1? Or, do I have to repeat the license procedure for the new installation?

3. I tried to use the "Search for new updates" function in CCS4.02, but it returned with the message "No updates... found". Wouldn't it be much easier for us licensed users, if the new CCS4.1 would be offered by this CCS internal function? You mentioned, that an "update patch" will be availailable in a few weeks, but I need XDS100V2 support as soon as possible!

A little bit more explanation about your technique to update CCS would be welcome.

Hi Frank:

1) You can have both 4.1 and 4.0.2 installed on the same machine

2) You can use the same license file

3) The CCS update manager will detect new CCS update patches. There currently is not a 4.0.x->4.1.x update patch. Hence it did not detect any new update for 4.0.x. When there is a 4.1.x update patch, your CCS 4.0.x install would detect it.

Hi, I wonder how the progress is of the Linux port of CSS 4.X underlying components goes? Or does CSS have to get to a certian point or 4.[something] before that work is started/continued?

Hi Robert,

We have CCS Linux support for a subset of HW and simulator targets. We plan on having a beta release sometime soon (month or so). Which device are you using?

Okey, I'm very happy to hear that! Right now I'm using the low end of the MSP430F2* series, it would be interesting to know what parts are part of this subset?

Looking forward to help out with the beta testing!

Unfortunately MSP430 will not be among the first set of devices that will be supported with this upcoming beta release. Support will be added further down the road, but not initially.
