Help, how can I debug C6457 ?

I am debugging a DSP board with a C6455 and a C6457 connected in the same JTAG daisy chain. I've had my CCS3.3 updated to SR12, and I am using an emulator of spectrumdigital.  In the parallel debug manager, I can connect to the C6455 and debug it, however, when I tryed to connect to the C6457, I encountered an error. I have tried to modified the ccs setup configuration for many times, but no matter how I did it, the error remains. I'm wondering that can I debug C6457 under CCS3.3(SR12)? Or is there something wrong with my board?

  • Hi Cheng -- Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I'm also having a problem connecting to my new C6457 design using a Spectrum Digital emulator and I wanted to check to see if you were encountering a similar problem. I'm using their XDS560R emulator on CCS v3.3 SR12.1, and the error code I'm getting is 0x80000240/-1146. I haven't been able to find a reference for what these codes exactly mean.

Using a scope to probe the JTAG lines on my board, I see that TDO (from the DSP) has data on it in response to the emulator, but I don't know the JTAG comm protocol, so I haven't been able to interpret it. I will say that the TDO line "looks odd", in that some of it's rising edges are extremely slow, while others are sharp. Does your TDO line look similar? In this picture yellow is TDI and blue is TDO, captured while CCS is displaying the error message dialog from the connect operation.

Also, I have probed the I2C lines, and I see that my processor is trying to boot from the I2C EEPROM as expected (BOOTMODE=0b0001). Changing BOOTMODE to "no boot" (0b0000) makes no difference. Are you seeing a similar thing for whatever boot mode you have selected?

    Regards,

    - Craig

  • Hi Craig, The error code I've got is also 0x8000240/-1146. Does that mean we've got the same problem? I have turned to the technical support of Spectrumdigital in this morning, and I am waiting for their answers. The TDO line you've got looks really somewhat "odd", I don't know what dose it mean either. But, It looks like that your scope is in AC coupling mode, am I right?

  • We got the same problem when connecting our c6457 board to CCS v4. Because there is no c6457 on the DSP processor list, I called Spectrum Digital support and was told to use c6455. The error message is also: Error 0x80000240/-1146. Any help?

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Titus,

Have you been using 2 versions of CCS or emulator drivers on the same PC?

As far as your error is concerned, it indicates something similar to a corrupted driver/CCS problem. It could be possible that your EVM works fine because the session currently initiated may be partly supporting the EVM configuration.

I suggest you reinstall emulator drivers, if this doesnt work go for a new clean installation of CCS or try running the same on another PC with fresh installation of CCS and Emulator drivers.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
