Communicating between CC1101 and CC1021

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101, CC1021

We have an old system based on CC1021 chipset whereas in the new devices we use CC1101.

We can set-up communication between two devices containg CC1101. But when we try receiving packets from the device with CC1021 to the device with CC1101, we get into all kind of issues: sometimes we receive packets even when the synch words do not match. Other times we do not receive the packets at all even the sysnc words match.

Have anybody experience is making new design with CC1101 to work the device based on CC1021?Have you been establlish the communciation between these two types of chipsets CC1101 and CC1021

Any hints what we need to do in terms of packet format, CRC, synch word scheme etc. I think the link should be transparent to two radios as long as the RF parametsr match. Am I correct?

  • Hi,

Communication between CC1021 and CC1101 will work just fine given that the set-up is correct. Are you using your own HW in your tests or ours? are you using your own SW or SmartRF studio. We always recommend to first test one parameter at the time to easier debug if something failes. Note that with CC1021 you set separation and with CC1101 you set deviation when using SmartRF studio.
