I bought PMSM motor control toolkit , why the motor inside the box is a BLDC motor

Hi, All,

I bought a TMDS1MTRPFCKIT development board several days ago and got it yesterday. It is surprising that the motor inside is a BLDC motor. Does anyone has the similar problems?

what were you expecting?

The motor is sinusoidally wound, but includes hall sensors (if you require them). You can call this motor BLDC or PMSM.

Ok, thanks, I am expecting a PMSM, if no one tells me it is sinusoidally wound, how would I know it is PMSM~, anyway, thanks for reply

There are very few true BLDC motors with actual trapezoidal windings, and there is a lot of mis-use / confusion of the terms BLDC/PMSM/SPM etc.

If you do want know what kind of motor you have, hook the windings up to a scope and give it a spin.
