Using the BQ2060A as a gas gauge only - disabling other functions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2060A

Hello,

I have a customer interested in using the BQ2060A as a gas gauge only.  A separate battery charger would be used to control the charging of the battery so he would want to disable the charge control feature as detailed below (p.14 of datasheet). No EEPROM, no temperature monitoring would be used either.  What would be the recommended register settings for this and any I/O termination required for unsed pins- ie. ESCL, ESDA, thermistor pins, etc?

The bq2060A supports SBS charge control by broadcasting the ChargingCurrent() and ChargingVoltage() to the

Smart Charger address. The bq2060A broadcasts the requests every 10 s. The bq2060A updates the values

used in the charging current and voltage broadcasts based on the battery state of charge, voltage, and

temperature. The fast-charge rate is programmed in

Fast-Charging Current EE 0x1a0x1b while the charge

voltage is programmed in

Charging Voltage EE 0x0a0x0b. The bq2060A internal charge control is compatible with popular rechargeable chemistries. The primary

charge-termination techniques include a change in temperature over a change in time (

Thanks,
