LP8860-Q1 EEPROM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8860-Q1

Q1

I am going to do dimming only in PWM without using the port of I2C and SPI.

Where do you write in the setting of EERROM?

Is it time of shipment from TI? Or is it necessary to have a customer write in it?

Q2

Does the switching frequency become 2.2MHz if I make setting of 2.2MHz an EEPROM?

  • Q1

Can be used both option - TI can prepare "customized" option LP8860-Q1 with your setting or EEPROM burning can be done during device manufacture.

    Q2

Correct, switching frequency is defined by EEPROM. Examples of settings can be found in evaluation software archive

Please try an evaluation kit to play with EEPROM settings. EVM can be ordered directly from TI eStore or you can ask local TI representative.

  • Hello Vladimir,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have a question one more.

After it was implemented by the board of the customer, can you change the setting of the EEPROM?

    Best regards,

    Kei

  • Hello Kei,

basically you can reprogram EEPROM few thousand times, but for automotive application is qualified (for now) burning EEPROM only once. We can not guarantee retention when burning will be done many times in the corner VDD voltage/temperature conditions.

  • Hello Vladimir,

    Thank you for your reply.

The Customer is  going to reprogram EEPROM only at the time of the evaluation of LP8860.

Customer is going to reprogram EEPROM by I2C, Is there issue of any thing? Is SPI better?

    Best regards,

  • Hello Kei,

I2C is fine, no any reason to prefer SPI. When SPI is used, customer should note about NSS inactive time (gap between sequences) 700 ns min.

    Best regards,

    Vladimir
