TDC1011 proximity sensing

To whom it may concern.

Customer is evaluating with TDC1011 for proximity sensing.

The target distance about 1.5m.

We know PGA450 is suitable for proximity sensing.

Our customer prefer to use TDC1011 because Iq and price….

We appreciate if you have any idea and information to realize for proximity sensing which distance 1.5m

With TDC1011.

    We don't have a reference design for that range due to the high excitation voltages required. This is why we suggest for that distance range customers use the PGA450.

    The other thing to consider is for proximity what exactly are they trying detect? A hand, a person, an item on an assembly line. All of these "things" have a different size return echo (think radar) that's dependent not only on the size but also the material as well as the angle it has in reference to the transducer face.
