TINA/Spice: battery source

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hello,

I'm trying to create a circuit with batteries. The circuit is connected to a load, but I cannot see the batteries draining their voltage. How can I set up the circuit so the battery sources can discharge when connecting a load to them.

Thank you

  • You can not use a voltage source for this in a simulator (voltage across a voltage source is always fixed). Use a large capacitor with an initial voltage as a surrogate for the battery. Then you can see the discharge characteristics. The value of the cap will depend on the battery discharge characteristics (the slower the discharge, the larger cap value you need in the simulation). The initial voltage is the battery rated voltage.

    Hope this helps...
