Hi to all,

i would like to connect Sensortag to MAtlab software , after i like to analyze data's acceleration , i'm using now BLe device monitor to save a data in a file , but now i like to connect Sensortag to matlab and see acceleration in real time. Is this possible? Thanks in advance

Hi,

As long as you can open up a port to the CC2540USB dongle, you can imitate everything device monitor does as the HCI commands are standardized. For a better view on what is sent to the USB Dongle, you can use BTool.

As i understand that's possible to connect the CC2540 USB dongle to matlab, the COM3 is opened when i worked with BLE device monitor . As i'm newbie , i need some clarification, what did you mean please by "HCI commands?

Hi,

I also need to connect my CC2640 Sensortag to Matlab. After going through the replies and posts, I am still clueless on how to go about it. I dont have BLE Devie monitor installed. How do I connect then?

Hi,

If your able to save the data to a file, you'll have to come up with a method to "glue" the data in a format that Matlab expects. Most likely some sort of parser is required.

I am trying it, but cannot get the data yet. It runs till " [A,count] = fread(s)" and cannot read the data. I am using Macbook computer.

However, the codes seem to be a valid option. You may want to try.

Hi Shankhadeep
We tried and succeeded to grab temperature data.
We use cc2540 USB Dongle to connect with the sensortag, and then revise MATLAB code, the 6 byte MAC address
GAP_connect = ['01'; '09'; 'FE'; '09'; '00'; '00'; '00' ;'46';'50'; 'AC' ;'29' ;'6A' ;'BC']; % BC:6A:29:AC:50:46
The last 6 bytes are MAC address.
Note 1: the MAC address can be found from TI BTool.
Note 2: the MAC address need to be in reversed order.

TI is not clear with their stuff and service

PS: Unfornately, we do not know the code to interface with Acc, Gyro, Mag yet.

Thanks. I will try to see the code for accel and gyro.

Meanwhile I have moved over to bluez gatttool and hcitool where I can read the data from all the motion sensors successfully.

Please let me know how once you succeeded in getting Accel and Gyro or Mag data from sensortag, so that I can try it as well.

Hi Bill,

If you want the procedure to read accel and gyro data using bluez, I can assure you can just follow this link. Just you have to provide the following sequence of commands to get the notification data

1. Set the period
[B0:B4:48:BD:0F:83][LE]> char-write-cmd 0x3E <period_value>

2. Enable the Movement sensor
[B0:B4:48:BD:0F:83][LE]> char-write-cmd 0x3A 01:00

3. Configure the output for accelerometer and gyro
[B0:B4:48:BD:0F:83][LE]> char-write-cmd 0x3C <Configuration_value>

If you want the code for Matlab, I havent tried it yet since I got the data from gatttool. You can refer the following links
