Hi -
Do any of TI's Bluetooth LE chip sets support a test mode for production testing?
Is this test mode based off of Bluetooth Low Energy Spec or is it something that TI developed on its own?
Thanks.

Hi Matt,
You can find information on testing and certification in the Bluetooth Qualification section of our BLE Wiki: www.ti.com/ble-wiki
Do I have the following right:
DTM is part of the BT spec, but it is difficult to use because it requires flashing a BT chip with special firmware to do the DTM testing?
From what I understand TI's PTM uses the PTM without me having to load special frimware into the BT chip for testing. Is my understanding correct?
Does this also mean: if we were to use a BT chip set that is non-TI that I would have to use DTM by loading and unloading the special firmware into that chipset? Is this an advantage that TI brings to the table for testability?
Hello Matt,
PTM is the ability to optionally add a configuration to your TI embedded (single-device) BLE application to allow DTM commands to be sent/received over a defined UART HCI interface for the purpose of performing qualification testing, typically with a BLE protocol/RF tester device. This process is further explained on the Using Production Test Mode (PTM) BLE wiki article.
Best wishes
