Hello all,
I already asked this question(s), but probably wasn't specific enough or subject line was wrong. Anyways, I am giving it another try since I didn't get distinct answer (irt was suggested to look in the guide, but this is exactly where question came from). I will stage my question in multiple stages in hope somebody knowledgeable will be able to answer. I am kind of in a woods here. So, I do have two cc2564 modules connected to PC via USB-serial adapter (idea behind was to send something from one and see response on the other one - it didn't fly, so I need more fundamental understanding). My PC runs TI Hardware Eval Tool and I can successfuly communicate with both modules - power up, connect, load firmware (latest from T site). I am looking at Continuous TX, Continuous RX and Packer TX/RX. I don't have a problem with Continuous TX - everything is clear, it's connectionless transmission with choice between 4 modulations on a particular channel with a particular pattern. I clearly see where Spectrum Analyzer fits the bill here - spectrum detection, just connect one and observe. Got it.
1) Continuous RX - HCI guide says 'This command gets the Bluetooth channel index and ADPLL mode and sets the device to continuous reception at the selected frequency'. Ok. Which demodulation is involved? All three simultaneously? If I execute this command, what I should expect? Testing guide does say NOTHING about setup for this test. If I will trasmit on the same frequency, should I be able to detect something? What is the intent of this test, what it does and what is a test setup?
2) Packet TX/RX - HCI guide says 'This command starts sending/recieving packets using packet transmission parameters such as frequency channel, packet type, and packet length.' and testing guide says 'To enable the continuous packet transmission/receive ..." So, is it continuous or not? If it is indeed continuous TX/RX, then by all means I have to be able to sense something on a second dongle, assuming that it is configured the same way and the same parameters. If it's not continuous, then what Packet RX portion is doing here? You can't catch youself by the tail. And again, testing guide says NOTHING about setup for this test.
Can somebody from TI community PLEASE clarify these questions for me? Please do not refer to testing guide because it does explain NOTHING regarding these modes, and test diagrams provided do show thw same Continuous TX test.
Can somebody who actuallu used this test reply to me?
Thanks.
