Part Number: EDGE-AI-STUDIO

While I am working with custom image dataset in Edge AI Studio, I want to know:

Whether TI provides any Data Augmentation techniques as well as any Data Curation as its own, or it is using any augmentation and curation techniques from any open-source libraries, or it doesn't provide support for Data augmentation and data curation that we have to do by our own if required offline?

    Hello Anu,

    Thank you for your question.     
    The current version of Edge AI Studio Model Composer does not support Data Augmentation techniques in the tool.   Internally the tool does perform partitioning of the data into training, validate and test sets, but these are not directly visible to the end-user.    Since you are using a custom image dataset you can use external/offline tools to apply to the dataset ahead of importing it into Model Composer.

    The development team is considering requests for new features  for the tool and we would appreciate if you could give us some more insight into what you are looking for:

    Are there specific Data Augmentation techniques that you would find useful to be available in the tool?

    Which Data Curation features would you want to have available in the tool?

    Actually I want to know, whether Model composer has Data augmentation methods or Data curation methods working internally, so that I can use lesser dataset as well as no data curation to be done from my part. 

    I just want to know about it, but I came across some augmentation methods in mm-detection wrt texas instruments ? So got confused and asked the question.

    Hi Anu,

    I am going to ask the Model Maker experts to comment on whether some augmentation methods are used internally in Model Maker.    There may be some internal augmentation that is done as part of the training process.

    Hi Anu,

    We use forks of torchvision and mmdetection to do the model training and these repositories use several image augmentation techniques during the training process. For more details, you can refer to github.com/.../edgeai-modelmaker and the scripts that it calls from edgeai-torchvision and edgeai-mmdetection. This will answer your question on Data Augmentation.

    We do not have any specific Data Curation techniques implemented - and that can be a broad term, can you please provide details of any specific Data Curation techniques that you have in mind?
