CCS/MSP430FR6989: Output Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found

Part Number: MSP430FR6989
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430FR6989, MSPDS

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Greetings,

Currently, I am using Code Composer Studio 6.2.0 and my launchpad is MSP-EXP430FR6989 and I have a problem where this error message popped out:

"Error initializing emulator:
No USB FET was found"

Initially, I have no issues until I upgraded Windows 10 like a few weeks ago (I think it is not the issue as my other software runs perfectly). So far I have done CCS reinstallation and checked the USB controllers in Device Manager but it's still the same. And also, I can't find out if my launchpad is recognized by Windows.

Thank you.

Xian

  • Hello,
I will move this to the MSP forums. The experts there can advise you best. Note that it is holiday season here, with many people taking holiday, so responses may be delayed.

    Thanks

  • Hello Xian,

Does the MSP-EXP430FR6989 eZ-FET enumerate as both an application UART and Debug Interface inside of the COM Ports section of the Device Manager? If not then your Windows OS is having an issue installing the proper drivers, I recommend checking your unsigned driver settings and re-installing low-level USB drivers from the MSPDS page. You should also try upgrading to CCS v7.3 and install older compiler versions if needed for your project.

    Regards,
    Ryan
