TPS23841: PSE Selection

Part Number: TPS23841

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is looking for a PSE device of PoE.

They want to use a device which meets to the follwoing spec.

 ----------------

[Spec]

  Input : 24V

  Output : 48V/350mA

  Meet to IEEE802.3af standard.

  PSE side device.

------------------

If you don't have any other device, can I recommend TPS23841 to them?

Also when they use the device, they may need some support for software to control it.

Do you have any capability of software support for them to control TPS23841?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya Nakai.

  • Greetings Nakai-San.

The TPS23841 is, indeed, our only Wide Vin PSE. However, we do not offer software support for this PSE as it is an older generation device.

May I ask what end equipment is requiring the Wide Vin?

Thank you for your local support and promotion of PoE products from Texas Instruments,
  • Hi Kazuya,

In general, PSE device is like a hot swap and it can only output the same voltage as input. With that said, there's no device can output 48V at the port with 24V input. If the input voltage is 24V, the output should be 24V. 44V-48V is the voltage rage defined in IEEE standard. 24V is not a standard PoE voltage. Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Penny
