Hi,

I would like to operate an WiFi access point with POE. Input voltage range of with theWiFi access point: 10 to 30 volts.

For example there is the TPS2384. It can be operated with 24 volts. (https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/574890?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=TPS23841 )

Is there an evaluation board with the TPS2384 or another one?

Hi Marc,

I don't think we have TPS23841EVM but TPS23841 is pin to pin compatible with TPS2384. Probably you can order TPS2384EVM and replace the IC with TPS23841. Are you planning to use auto mode without any host control? Thanks.

Hi Penny,
I want to use it as an PSE injector that checks all end devices for POE capability.
For example a computer must not be destroyed if you connected it to the POE port.

TPS23841 should detect a computer port as short circuit and reject to turn on the port. Thanks.

Hi Penny,

the purchased Eval Board TPS2384 HPA109 was put into operation.
Everything works perfectly.
But now I want to use this board with the TPS23841.
How do I get the board to run with the TPS23841? About the I2C interface?

Hi Marc,

Good to hear you make progress!
TPS23841 is a spin off TPS2384, so they are very similar. TPS23841 also has auto mode. You can just run TPS23841 without host control. The I2C interface should be the same as TPS2384. What you use for communicating with TPS2384, you can use for TPS23841. Thanks.

The data sheet says: "The EVM schematic and top and bottom board layouts are appended.

Our TIS is updating the EVM user's guide due to EV2300 EOL(EV2400 is the replacement). The schematic pictures are lost during the process and he is fixing that. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please see the schematic attached. Thanks.
