MSP432E411Y: Python, MicroPython support

Part Number: MSP432E411Y
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200

Hi,

I have seen some comments about Python or MicroPython, that led me to believe that this is not really supported on the MSP432. Is anyone aware whether this has changed more recently, to enable Python on an MSP432? Just wanted to see where we stand.

Looking at the MicroPython git tree, there are a number of MCU platforms, but not MSP432.

https://github.com/micropython/micropython/tree/master/ports

The MicroPython git tree shows support for the CC3200 e.g.

Could someone comment?

Thanks!

  • Gunter,

I am not aware of any support or plan for MicroPython on MSP432E4 devices.  This would need to come from the community.

    Chris

  • Hi Gunter,

Some of us are working on this internally but it is on a "best effort" basis as there has not been much pull from customers.  We are starting with MSP432E and then to other SimpleLink devices that MicroPython would make sense.   As this is best effort, we are aware of the need but do not really have a timeline for availability.

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Thanks, Chris for the update.

This is interesting. I think you have seen that MicroPython has some support for the CC3200, which may have come from another source. But maybe that is also something to build on.

We can let you know, if we see further need for this from the customer base.

    Thanks,
