TMS320F28075: differences between .bin and the data read from Flash

Hi Team,

My customer use plug-in tool in CCS11.2 to generate the .bin from the .out. And then use .out to program the Flash.

He found that all 0xFFFF data in Flash is replaced with 0x0000 in .bin. And other data is normal.

What is the reason?

I'm not sure what tool you mean. Please describe this step in more detail. Show the invocation of this tool. Please copy and paste the text, and do not use a screen shot.

Please read the article An Introduction to Binary Files, and learn how holes occur in binary files. For binary files created with tiobj2bin, these holes are always filled with 0. To learn how to fill these holes with 0xffff instead, please see this forum thread.

As for why, when programmed in flash, these same holes are filled with 0xffff ... It must be caused by some detail of how this works ...

Hi Yale,

Erased flash will be all 1s (0xFFFF).

When the code is programmed, 1s will be programmed as 0s where necessary.

For the flash address locations where no data or code is mapped, 0xFFFF will be present.
