TAS6754-Q1: Audio stops due to DC fault detection with 2ohm speaker and big volume

Hello experts,

My customer sees audio output stopping with 2ohm speaker and big volume. They use TAS6754-Q1 EVM and they will use TAS67524-Q1 in MP.

Temperature: Room temp
PVDD/VBAT: 15V
Input: Pink noise
Load: 2ohm speaker
Result: When they use 2ohm speaker, audio output stops in 0dB ~ -3dB volume. When they use 4ohm speaker, no stop in all volume range.

After the audio stop, they see DC fault detection. What is the root cause and workaround for this? Their target is no audio shutdown in 9~16V PVDD/VBAT, 2ohm speaker, and 10% THD.

Please refer to below waveform for 4ohm speaker case. Audio does not stop in this case.

For 2P0, some register in page 02, page 01 will affect this DC fault behavior.

If they are using the newest sample, page 02 register should already set by ATE team. They only need to take care page 01 settings, as datasheet listed below:

When using PPC3 to initialize, will write these register. But if during their test, they ever Reset register, or toggle PD pin, will make these settings lost. PPC3 won't auto re-config them, they need to take care to re-initialization.

What does the page 02 and page 01 do for DC fault? Could you explain more details?
