UCC57148-Q1: Gate driver suggestion

Part Number: UCC57148-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC57148, UCC57108

Dear TI experts,

Could you suggest gate driver which meets the specifications below?

  • VDD = over 48V (car battery)
  • Gate control voltage (OUT) = over 12V
  • Safety redundancy(Overcurrent, overvoltage protection), Latch control are preferred.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

Are you looking for a low-side driver or half-bridge? Seems like you are looking for a half-bridge driver because VBUS>48V and VDD>12V, but you tagged UCC57148, which is a low-side driver.

    Thanks,

    Annabelle

  • Dear Annabelle,

    Thank you for your support.

Sorry for my misunderstanding. My customer wants to control only 1 MOSFET. But I thought that half bridge driver should connect 2 MOSFET.

    1. Are there any low side drivers (or high side drivers) which can meet my customer's requirement?

    2. If the answer of above question is no, Is it possible to connect only 1 FET to high side of half bridge driver?

    Best regards,

    Chase

  • Hi Chase,

Yes, you are correct that a half-bridge drives two FETs (I misunderstood your original question!), so if your customer is only wanting to drive one FET, they would need a high-side or a low-side driver. Our portfolio only has low-side, no dedicated high-side drivers, so I would recommend UCC57108 (DESAT feature) or UCC57148 (OCP feature). If the customer actually needs a high-side driver, they would need to use a low-side driver as a high-side driver, and you can find more info in this FAQ on how to do this. These two drivers also have enable/fault pins (I am not sure exactly what you mean by latch control, if you don't mean enable/fault then please elaborate on what the customer is looking for). Both have 8V and 12V UVLO options, with VDD abs. max of 30V.

Can you share the PN of the FETs the customer is looking to drive as well as more information on the system (configuration, EE, schematic if there is one)?

    Thanks,

    Annabelle

  • Hi Chase,

    Any update here?

    Thanks,
